100th Day of School
Today was Marlow's 100th day of school, and to join in the festivities she was asked to create a display containing 100 items. I recently was lucky enough to recieve someone's lifetime collection of vintage buttons (swoon)...so we decided to make a garland with them! It was a cute project that took way more time than I realized, we even had to get some help from Dad. But, in the end she was super proud to take it into school today and help decorate the hall! Only 80 more days to go!

Sew-A-Long
There is still plenty of room in next weeks Sew-A-Long at the Red Doors. Join us as we sew up a super cute tunic for spring! The course is aimed at getting you comfortable sewing from a pattern. So, if you have basic sewing skills (very basic) this class is for you. I chose a pattern that is simple enough but technical enough for you to spread your wings.
The pattern has several different views to choose from and features a yoke, which is perfect for adding a second fabric for interest. Below are the three views I have made from the pattern. They all turned out super cute. My favorite is the last tunic with the three quarter sleeve! Come join the fun, the course meets for two, 2 hour sessions. We have loads of fun, and you will leave with a fabulous new shirt that YOU made and can be super proud of.
Clock here for more information and to register!
Also, check out my Intro to Your Sewing Machine Class for those of you that need to start from the beginning!

Mini Peplum Tee
Found this super awesome polka dot knit at Hancock's the other day and knew it would be perfect for a mini peplum tee for Mars. I wish I had bought more and made myself one as well. It was a super easy and quick project.
I just used and old tee shirt for the pattern and cut off about six inches from the hemline. I added a gathered rectangle for the peplum, and wahlah! Now, if I could only get her to wear it. It seems she is developing and adversion to anything mommy makes! What? Hopefully, it won't last long.
Happy Sewing!

In my backyard//
April showers bring May flowers....errr. I don't know much about the showers in these parts..super dry lately. But, there is no lack of blooms! Or lack of help in the gardens either!
Plenty of bull frogs are back in the pond as well. I forgot how ginormous they are, try bigger than a soft ball. They are so clumsy too! Love the frogs in the pond.

I remember searching Etsy years ago for a handmade swimsuit and coming up pretty much empty handed. Everything was either entirely too couture, I do actually swim and build sand castles with my little girl at the beach, or just plain unattractive.
But, let me just say things have changed since then. The amount of amazing handmade swimsuits is off the charts! Here is a little treasury of some of my favorite suits for summer, from some very talented etsy makers. Have a look...
