Was there a hurricane...

Oh wait, that is just was seriously unorganized studio. Nothing inspiring about this...stress breeder. Everyone that comes over always wants to see the studio and I either tell them no, or take them up there and am completel mortified! So, I bit the bullet and several hours and four bags of trash later we have...

Aaaaahhhhhhh! That is much better. I am so disorganized, and somewhat of a hoarder (thanks Dad). So fabric scraps and odds and ends like buttons snaps and the like seem to just quickly get out of control up here. Lets see how long I can keep it like this!

Spooky, spooky...

Some final Halloween decorations! The spooky bats have invaded, Marlow loved these last year so we had to do them again!
This super cool frame web is from here. Absolutely love this on the door. Turned out awesome, and way better than the webby stuff.
I think it needs a spider, you?

Fallscaping...

Threw together a little fall scape on the mantle this weekend. It had been sitting with random empty bottles and dust since at least July. So, its great to finally have something appealing up there again.
I used this tutorial for the felt fall garland, and just threw in some dots too! The lovely lady head planter is c/o Friendship Cottage, thank you Uncle Rodney...I Heart HER!!! So Mad Men, don't you think? Is the new season ever gonna start? Pan Am is definately NOT filling the void, agree?

The feathers were collected from many visits to the beach over the years, and maybe the backyard too. The bottles I just aquired helping clean out my grandparents attic, they are awesome. I used this tutorial to make the fabric pumpkins. They would have been so much easier had I had the right kind of needle. Next year!

The super fab skeleton garland is from none other than the Dollar Tree, and it is super great! Now I am ready for a pumpkin spice...aaaahhhhhh, fall.

First Day of School...

Tuesday was Marlow's first day of Pre-K.  So exciting and so sad all at the same time.  How do they get so big so fast?  I swear once you have a kid your life gets put on fast forward.  Do you agree?

I made her skirt out of a hand me down button up shirt, with turquoise linen for the pocket.  Used black satin ribbon for the bow on the pocket.

She was super excited about her hello kitty backpack!  I offered to make her one and she said "maybe we could just buy one."  Seriously? Well, ok.
Favorite part of the day has to be our morning commute!
It was hard to do, but the teacher rushed us out of the room assuring us she was old enough and independent enough, so we turned her loose and went on our way.  She had a great first day!

Goodbye summer...

We spent the last (technically) day of summer vacation collecting seaglass along a beautiful stretch of just about desserted beach (upon which location I have been sworn to secrency).  We tagged along with my sister Heather and her boys Asher and Lukas.

So here's to summer, with its sense of adventure, endless days, and beautiful weather!  I'll miss you!
